Is my text sent to a server?
No. All counting runs locally in your browser — your text never leaves your device.
How are words counted for Chinese, Japanese and Korean?
CJK scripts are written without spaces, so each Chinese, Japanese and Korean character counts as one word. English and other space-separated languages are counted by word.
How is the reading time estimated?
Reading time combines two average speeds: about 400 CJK characters per minute and 200 words per minute for other languages. It is an estimate for reference only.
Which languages are supported?
Any Unicode text — English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, emoji and more. Everything is counted with Unicode-aware rules.
How are sentences, paragraphs and lines defined?
Sentences end with . ! ? 。 ! ? or …; paragraphs are blocks of text separated by blank lines; lines are separated by newline characters.
Is there a length limit?
There is no fixed limit. Updates are deferred so typing stays smooth even with long documents, but counting very large texts depends on your device's speed.
